Fashion Items You Need To Pack on Travelling

We’re swiftly approaching the pivotal sartorial point of the year. Come May, it’s too early to start prepping for our annual summer getaway yet with the influx of bank holiday weekends, we’re desperately seeking the sun. That’s right, we’re finally approaching city break season.

But with limited bag allowance, how can we possibly pack for every potential Instagram opportunity?

Whether you’re planning to explore Copenhagen by bicycle or hoping to catch the rays in colourful Lisbon, we’ve curated the perfect capsule wardrobe. So leave your sartorial dilemmas to us and instead concentrate on sourcing go-to spots ahead of your trip.

The Colourful Co-Ord

Trust us, there’s no greater investment than a tailored two-piece. And this mustard combo courtesy of Zara is sure to prove a hit with the fashion crowd.

Pair the look with box-fresh trainers and you’ll be able to cycle through the cobbled streets of Copenhagen to hit up the sights, i.e. & Other Stories. Just before peddling to the local for a nightcap and switching your Nike Cortez for pastel hued mules.

The blazer is the most interchangeable piece too of course, as you can team the mustard jacket with a pie-curst collar shirt and jeans in a matter of minutes.

The Day-To-Night Trainers

We apologise for sounding like your mum, but we will not allow you to book a city break before investing in a brilliant pair of box-fresh trainers. If you fancy sporting athleisure, invest in a pair of Nike Cortez (we recommend the red and white lace-ups).

Fashion Experience

The Royal Family has an undeniable influence over our spending habits. Remember when Prince George donned a sweet bathrobe to meet Barack Obama? The toddler’s athleisure-inspired look sold out within a matter of hours.

While sister Princess Charlotte inspired thousands of mums earlier this month, when the sheep-adorned cardigan she wore for her birthday portrait sold out on the John Lewis website.

And the royals’ sartorial choices mean big money in the fashion industry, as Brand Finance estimated that the ‘Kate Middleton Effect’ contributes £4.7 billion to the UK economy each year. While Princess Charlotte is expected to be worth more than £3 billion in the future.

But this month, it seems everyone is talking about Pippa Middleton’s enviable wardrobe.

Set to wed fiancé James Mathews on May 20 at St Mark’s in Engelfield, the media has captured her every move since the engagement news. And at every given opportunity, the fash pack has speculated which designer brand she will choose to don on the big day.

Rumour has it, Giles Deacon has been chosen for the job after he was spotted leaving her residence with dress bags a few months ago.

But regardless of which designer has been given the prestigious responsibility, one thing is certain. The sartorial spotlight is well and truly on Kate’s younger sister, Pippa…

The Pre-Wedding Appearance

Just last week, Pippa made a rare public appearance, as she attended the ParaSnowBall Fundraiser. She opted for a floral dress by Erdem for the prestigious event and sure enough, search for the organza gown increased by 101 percent according to fashion giant, Lyst.

The Debut Engagement Dress

Pippa is renowned for keeping a relatively low public profile so when she made her debut appearance following the engagement, the media rushed to capture the moment. And sure enough, the Whistle’s Lisa dress she was photographed wearing quickly became the most viewed white dress on Lyst that week.

According to the global fashion search engine, search for ‘white lace’ grew by 54 percent last July and cream hues are still the most popular sales when it comes to lace.

The Tweed Jacket

When it comes to the Sloane Rangers, tweed is undoubtedly the most donned print. And back in April 2013, Pippa challenged sister Kate in the sartorial stakes. Both sisters donned the cult pattern but Pippa surprisingly won the fashion vote.

Pippa and Kate Middleton donned tweed in the same month

Pippa’s Tory Burch jacket received nine percent more views that Kate’s mint Mulberry tweed look. And according to Lyst, search for the Tory Burch jacket continued to increase by 28 percent week on week.

The Two-Piece

Back in August 2015, Pippa was photographed on the beach in a red bikini. Within a mere 72 hours, the two-piece sold out on Lyst. The good news however, is that the Vix Solid Bia Tube Bikini is back in stock for those looking to imitate the look.

And with her nuptials on the horizon, we’re intrigued to see if Pippa’s wedding dress has the same influence on the nation as Kate’s lace gown by Sarah Burton.

Add To Your Shopping Basket This Week

This week, we’re prepped to purchase our first major summer accessory. Yes, you read that correctly. All it takes is a little sunshine and we’re sartorially prepping for our impending holiday…

In other Zara news, we have our hearts set on a pair of sweet satin slides and are already eyeing up the ‘It’ dress of the season. It’s official, Zara has well and truly ramped up its sartorial game, that’s for sure…

Shop Grazia’s top three Zara picks of the week below:

The Robe-Style Dress

You thought pyjama dressing was over? Think again. This season, we’re still coveting two-piece co-ords, slipper-style mules and of course, the robe dress. We have our hearts set on this cross-over dress from Zara.

Don the look with wooden clogs and a basket bag this summer and accessorise with supersized earrings come evening.

The Slippers

We’re still coveting open-toe mules this season. And these slip-on shoes courtesy of Zara are at the top of our wish list. We’ll be teaming ours with a spaghetti-strap dress and an oversized blazer. Think luxe pyjama dressing.

Yes, we’ve been obsessing over the supersized straw bucket bag ever since it hit March 1st. But the hat equivalent has been on our minds 24/7. And now all we need is a holiday…

The Secret Zara Section

When we first learnt that Inditex is set to open the world’s largest store, we truly believed that nothing could ever top the groundbreaking news.

But now, it’s come to our attention that there’s an entire section on the Zara website that we never even knew existed. And the best part? It’s dedicated to must-have buys at a fraction of the standard £39.99 price tag. Unsurprisingly, it’s where only true Zara fanatics shop.

The not-so-secret-anymore tab entitled ‘Special Prices’ is sandwiched between ‘Fragrances’ and ‘Gift Cards’. And the category features never-seen-before items which boast price tags starting from £4.99. Yes, you read that correctly.

We’re talking must-have mules, slogan-emblazoned tees and dresses which boast supersized sleeves aplenty. We don’t know about you but we’re a little embarrassed that we didn’t realise it existed sooner…

We’ll be teaming ours with a box-fresh tee, black flares and babouche shoes this spring. Spring-proof the look with a denim jacket draped across the shoulders and a miniature handbag in tow.

This monochrome two-piece is everything we’ve ever wanted and more. This season we’ll be donning the co-ords with a bold lip, backless mules and stacked jewellery. We challenge you to find a more work-to-drinks look than this. We didn’t think so…

Stylish Fashion Buys To Shop

We’re always looking for an excuse to go shopping, and a long weekend certainly justifies a new purchase (or three).

And with the weather uncertain this May bank holiday weekend, we’re ditching all plans in favour of some well-deserved shopping.

Luckily for you, we’ve done the leg work, and rounded up the most covetable high street pieces out there.

So whether you plan to spend the weekend with family or you’re jetting away (you lucky thing), we’ve got it covered. You can even shop the drop from the comfort of your own bed. Because, Bank Holiday.

From must-have mules to this season’s ‘It’ swimsuit, we’ve rounded up this month’s best buys.

You’ll notice at most weddings that your lovely bride and groom prove the rule ‘opposites attract’. The same is true for accessories, so avoid matching bags, shoes and jewels to each other and brighten up a simple one-colour dress with bold and bright mis-matched accessories

Here comes the…

While we want you to be the most stylish guest in the chapel, just don’t upstage the bride. Bad form. Avoid giant hats and statement headwear. And flouro-brights are probably best left untouched, too.
